My Philosophy:

The mission of my photography classes is to take my 25 years of diverse experience in commercial photography and cinematography and cut years off your learning curve on your path to great photography. Great lighting is my passion! All my classes demonstrate light modification. I don’t know if a great “eye” can be taught, but I assure you will have a better “eye” by the end of each class. You will see things you have not seen before, and think like a problem solver.

I understand these are tough economic times and that photography is a long journey of acquiring the right equipment. My classes demonstrate a progressive build from simple, inexpensive ways of capturing an image to much more complex methods of building a great photograph. I start with equipment from a shoestring budget and add items just as you might, as you would add to your inventory. I end with multi light setups utilizing state of the art equipment that I have chosen over the years.

My Style:

If I am photographing a model for a class, I tend to teach in a way that takes the student through my thought process. I don’t follow a rote outline. Not surprisingly, I don’t take photos that way either. I assess each photo shoot individually. Some people require unique lighting for their face. By taking students through my decision making process, they learn the problem solving techniques I employ to achieve success. My favorite way of defining success is a happy client!

I take questions from the class as I go – constantly evaluating the level of understanding and adjusting the pace when necessary. I assume that students have seen my images before and want to learn how I take them, not have me stand before them and read from an outline or a manual. They can buy a book and get that!

My goal is to teach you to take photographs you will be proud of, or make your clients happy, or immortalize your family, or whatever your dreams are. I hope to meet you soon!

I guarantee you'll learn a lot and be ready to deliver better images to your clients!
